The Coney Island of Pottsville
Four generations. Since 1917.
We're The Coney Island — a restaurant and tavern in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, and the home of the Coney Dog, serving Schuylkill County since 1917, when Greek immigrant Sarantos "Sam" Palles opened the first downtown counter. Family owned and operated ever since, today a couple miles uptown on West Market Street (Route 209), open around the clock: a 24-hour restaurant, tavern, tiki bar, and drive-thru, all under one roof.

The Coney Dog — our signature since 1917.
A Pottsville family business
Pottsville's Coney Island since 1917
Pottsville's Coney Island opened in 1917 — Greek immigrant Sarantos "Sam" Palles set up a downtown shoeshine and hot weiners counter, and the restaurant still makes the Coney Dogs from the same recipe today and looks after the same town.
Open 24/7 in Pottsville, PA
You'll find us on West Market Street — Route 209 — in Pottsville, serving Schuylkill County 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Restaurant, tavern, tiki bar, and drive-thru — whatever you're after, whenever you're hungry, we're open.
From a downtown counter to a Pottsville institution
We began as a downtown shoeshine stand and hot-weiner counter on Centre Street, in the heart of Schuylkill County's anthracite coal region, and grew into a 24/7 fixture a couple of miles up the road. Through every change, the restaurant has kept what matters: the same family recipe, good food at any hour, and a warm place for Pottsville to gather.
