9½ Yuenglings out of 10 — Wisco Dive Bars

The dive bar guy
pulled up a stool.
and we’re glad he did.

In June 2026, Jared Schutz — the reviewer behind Wisco Dive Bars — brought his camera to 2290 W. Market St. and gave The Coney Island 9 and a half Yuenglings out of 10, calling us "an iconic stop for all the locals in Pottsville." Ours is review number 1295 in his catalog. Press play — it runs a minute forty-five — then come see the place yourself.

He almost didn't stop. "I will admit, when I first saw this place, I thought, well, maybe I won't review it" — from the lot, this doesn't look like anybody's dive bar. Then he stepped inside and found a restaurant "that's open 24/7," a dining room, and the drive-thru window: "You can get food, you can get ice cream, you name it."

The walk-through runs the whole house. "Turns out they've got a dive bar in here, too" — that's the Coney Tavern. The four-season patio stopped him mid-tour: "Check this out, absolutely gorgeous. This is a newer area here, they've got a fireplace, got the garage doors open, a beautiful bar here." And the tiki bar drew the full infomercial: "I feel like Billy Mays when I say, 'But wait, there's more.'"

Jared gave the crew their due — "great bartender here as well" — and signed off: "I don't even know how to rate this place ... I'm giving Coney Island 9 and 1/2 Yuenglings out of 10."

There's no question this place is not a dive bar, but what a cool feel and a cool look, and what an awesome job by the owners to turn this place into something super cool. This is an iconic stop for all the locals in Pottsville.

What he called out.

A restaurant that never closes

"Turns out they have a restaurant in here that's open 24/7" — with a dining room and the drive-thru window: "You can get food, you can get ice cream, you name it."

A dive bar in here, too

"Turns out they've got a dive bar in here, too." The Coney Tavern is the corner-bar room he came looking for — its own entrance off the lot, its own regulars.

"Check this out, absolutely gorgeous." The newer room — a fireplace, roll-up garage doors, and "a beautiful bar here."

"I feel like Billy Mays when I say, 'But wait, there's more.'" The seasonal tiki bar got the reveal treatment: "They just put in a beautiful tiki bar patio out here."

The mural gets a nod

"And to top it off, they've got this beautiful mural." His camera lingers on it on the way out.

"Here's that drive-thru, busy, like it always is." Open every hour, same as the kitchen.

A note of thanks

Thank you, Jared.

Ours is stop number 1295 on a map that starts in Wisconsin — and most of his stops are a lot closer to home for him than Pottsville is. So thank you, Jared: for pulling in, for giving the rooms and the crew their due, and for the nine and a half. The bartenders, cooks, and regulars who make this place feel the way it does — that rating belongs to them.

If the video made you smile, the best thank-you is a follow. His pages are where the next neighborhood tavern gets its moment — and there's always a next one.
